I find Lorem ipsum is useful for internal use but it almost always causes a topic of discussion for a client wondering what it is. Using English text examples is definately more appropriate when displaying designs and development projects to clients.

I recall an article by one famous design studio where they wrote that they never use Lorem Ipsum. For their custom web projects along with graphical design itself, they always write original humorous texts and jokes and plug them into mock-up designs to be shown to clients. Usually client love those humorous texts much more then boring Lorem Impsum and approve their design more almost immediately.

Lorem Ipsum has one, and only one role. To approximate the look and feel of real text in a layout, in order to not distract from the layout with actual content.

It has a role in doing this. If you are really only trying to look at the layout, having real content is distracting. However, like any tool, it has its specific uses. If you are trying to use it as placeholder text after the layout stage is done, you might want to think about replacing it with real content.

Because content is part of the end application, after all. You want to release the real text as early as possible to the client. That way, you can iterate.
