Thanks so much for the stand alone installer. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m glad I have it in case I have to restore my system again (for some reason, system restore wiped all my recent files) and lose WLW a second time.
I’ve had to install it twice from Microsoft, and it took ridiculously long.

So thanks for saving us all time and bandwidth!

Wow dude thanx alot. it worked like a charm. really cool man. i had been trying to get my hands on something such a standalone installer. its not that i am a big fan of this thing its just that the wlinstaller anoyed me so much that i decided to find it somewhere as a standalone and install it on my pc. thanx anyway (after installation it doesn’t give any indication of completion, you have to find it in your all programs)

Thanks for this post. I have been frustrated trying to install Windows Live Writers for hours. It is ridiculous that Microsoft couldn’t provide good instruction on what the actual requirement is. It would have saved one the stress of trying unsuccessfully to install the software and wasting bandwidth downloading the same installer files over and over again.

it was an head ache to install it using the default installer…..
microsoft does and error everytime in one way or another, this time it is its installer

Thanks a lot for the standalone installer provided. It made it so easy to install Windows Live Writer. Unnecessarily I wasted time and bandwidth to download Windows Update Services which did not help in anyway. Thanks again.

Might be an easy solution to this! Nothing tells you you need it, but you must have .NET installed. You can get it through Windows Update or go to Microsoft.com and search for .NET 3.0 Redistributable. Download .NET 3.0 (I say this as its the latest version and should have all the classes required) and once that has completed, re-run the WLSetup.exe file (it can be the light version rather than the full 50mb one). You will notice that the programs load in now. If only MS told us we needed that in the first place!
